Santee's Favorite Since 2000
Coasters is an excellent family restaurant. It is an entertaining Sports Bar with 20 TVs including a large screen projection TV. The restaurant is owned and managed by John and Kathy Casey and has been in operation since 19 . More about the restaurant....
The name “Santee” originates from the native Indian tribes and literally means “the rivers.” Man made dams have turned the area into a fishing, recreation and golfing PARADISE. Lake Marion and Lake Moultrie, covering a combined 171,000 acres, are popular among fresh water fisherman for their striped bass, largemouth bass, crappie, catfish and bream. All types of water sports are enjoyed on the lakes waters; from skiing, boating and swimming to shore side camping. The lakes vary from shallow swamps and blackwater ponds to vast open water.
Visitors can travel from LAKE MARION through the Diversion Canal to LAKE MOULTRIE. At the end of Lake Moultrie lies the 75' high Pinopolis Lock, which can lower boats down to the Tailrace Canal, take them to the Cooper River and on to historic Charleston. The celebrated “Santee Stripers” (striped bass) came up the Cooper River from the ocean to spawn, entered Lake Marion through the locks and by twist of nature, the saltwater fish adapted to the fresh water lakes and continue to spawn here. The diverse and abundant WILDLIFE in Santee Cooper’s lake Country make it a sportsman’s paradise. The development of the Lake Moultrie passage of The Palmetto Trail offers opportunities to experience dozens of habitats and ecosystems. Deer, Fox, Squirrel, Dove, Turkey and Duck share this beautiful area with the majestic Bald Eagle and Osprey.
